MEET THE REGIONAL STREAMNET STAFF
A full
list
of StreamNet contacts can be found here.
Bruce
Schmidt
Bruce
is the Program Manager for the StreamNet Project. He brings the
perspective of a fisheries biologist to the project, with an emphasis
of
serving the needs of the data user, not just meeting the needs of data
managers.
Bruce has a BS in Fishery Management from Utah State University and an
MS
in Fish and Wildlife Science from South Dakota State. He comes to the
project
from ODFW, where he served as Fish Research and Development Program
Director
and Science and Technology Program Director. Previous experience
included
Research Project Leader, Fish Division Planner and Chief of Fisheries
for
the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.
When not
dealing
with providing data for regional fisheries management efforts, Bruce
spends
his time gardening, downhill skiing, dragging his son to soccer and
scouting
events, and would like to get back into river running, fishing and
blackpowder
hunting.
Bill
Kinney
Bill
Kinney is the StreamNet Regional Data Manager at PSMFC. He manages
the database of information compiled by state, federal and tribal
agencies
that supports StreamNet’s online web query system.
Prior to
working
for the Commission, Bill worked for the State of Washington for 23
years,
first at the UW Fisheries Research Institute, and then with the
Washington
Department of Fish & Wildlife. Major work included nearshore
ecology
research, habitat management work reviewing hydroelectric projects, and
compiling salmon data in Washington as a member of the Pacific Salmon
Commission’s
Data Standards Working Group.
Bill has a
BS
degree in Marine Resources from Huxley College. He spends spare time
dabbling
in video production and historic restoration projects.
Mike
Banach
Mike is the Regional
Fisheries Biologist for StreamNet. Employed by Pacific
States Marine Fisheries Commission, his main role is ensuring StreamNet
data are consistent and usable. He is StreamNet's main contact when
users
need assistance. Mike has a B.S. in Zoology from Eastern Illinois
University
and an M.S. in Fisheries Management from Iowa State University. He has
worked
in the fisheries field for state, federal, tribal, and university
agencies
in Iowa, Virginia, Idaho, and Oregon since 1984.
Mike's
spare
time is spent propelling a canoe, hiking, and fishing.
Van Hare
Van is the
Regional Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist for the
StreamNet Project. His work includes the
development,
maintenance, display and delivery of spatial data related to fisheries
and
hydrography. He manages StreamNet’s
Interactive Mapping website and is the main contact for users seeking
assistance with spatial data.
Van has a
B.A. from Lewis and Clark College and an M.S. in Natural
Resources
Planning and GIS from Humboldt State University. Prior
to joining StreamNet, he worked as a GIS Specialist
for the
National Park Service at Redwood National and State Parks. His
background includes
slope-stability modeling and use of GIS as a tool for aquatic
conservation and
watershed restoration planning. Van enjoys spending time with his
family,
swimming in salt water, seeking sun and exploring new ground.
Stan
Allen
Stan
Allen is currently a Sr. Program Manager for the Pacific States Marine
Fisheries Commission. Stan has been a part of fish and wildlife data
and
information management for over 25 years, 15 years of which has been
working
with the Commission on multi-state/coastwide data programs.

current
work with the Commission, he worked for the Idaho Department of Fish
and
Game where he was responsible for and involved in state/regional and
national
