Using the Geoprocessing Wizard in ArcMap 8.2, merged all the eelgrass polygons into one shapefile. To loacte eelgrass a diver swims along the edge of a channel, zigzaging between 0 ft MLLW and -11 ft MLLW. The diver is followed by a person in a kayak who has a differential GPS receiver. When eelgrass is found larger than 4 square feet, the diver traces the outside boundary of the bed by swimming around it. The kayaker follows the diver around the bed recording its outline. The data is returned to an office where it was differentially corrected to an accuracy of approximately 2 meters.
