These data were compiled at the request of the Northwest Power Planning Council, who wanted to know how much progress had been made toward marking hatchery fish so that they would be recognizable in a selective fishery. Initial Data were compiled during Spring, 2001, and then revised in August 2001. Official release data are not yet available from all agencies. Therefore, these figures should be considered preliminary and changes or corrections may occur. Fish may have been marked for purposes other than to facilitate selective fisheries, and some groups were intentionally not marked for specific reasons.

Fin clipping data are not part of the standard StreamNet database. StreamNet coordinated development of these maps at the request of the Power Planning Council because the Regional Mark Information System's new database version that will access this information had not been completed and formally adopted, and release data for calendar year 2000 had not been completed and submitted to RMIS by all agencies at the time of the request. Also, RMIS staff was short due to vacation leave, so StreamNet undertook compilation of the information.
<supplinf>StreamNet is a cooperative information management and dissemination project focused on fisheries and aquatic related data in the Columbia River basin and the Pacific Northwest. The project provides a variety of data related to fish resources and maintains the 1:100,000 scale hydrography layer for the Pacific Northwest. Information is available through the an on-line database query, interactive maps, direct data download or by custom request. These various data reside in a central database, and are intregrated by use of common location coding and other coding conventions.

StreamNet receives funding from the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA Project No.: 198810804) and is authorized under the Fish and Wildlife Program of the Northwest Power and Conservation Council. Other organizations provide funding for select project components. Participating agencies contribute significant in-kind services and include: the Oregon Dept. of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW), Washington Dept. of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW), Idaho Dept. of Fish and Game (IDFG), Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks (MFWP), U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), and the Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fisheries Commission (CRITFC). The StreamNet project is managed by the Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission in Portland, Oregon.

In addition to the data sets that StreamNet develops and maintains in the central database, StreamNet also provides a service called the "StreamNet Data Store" (http://www.streamnet.org/online-data/datastore.html). The Data Store warehouses data separate from StreamNet's central integrated database, most of which are developed by people outside of the StreamNet project. The data set described here is available from the StreamNet Data Store.</supplinf></descript><citation><citeinfo><origin>StreamNet Project, Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission</origin><pubdate>2000</pubdate><title>Adipose clip release data 2000</title><ftname Sync="TRUE">MassMarkingMaps.zip</ftname><onlink>http://www.streamnet.org/online-data/massmarkingmaps.html</onlink><lworkcit><citeinfo><title>Schmidt, Bruce. 2001.
